Position Summary
The Executive Director leads The Montclair Inn, a residential community that provides a home and support for the adults it serves. The Executive Director is responsible for the full operation of the residence, including day to day management, resident relations, staffing, finances, regulatory compliance, and the donor, funder, and government relationships that sustain the organization.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Trustees and works closely with the Board Chair, the Treasurer, and the Residents Committee. The role calls for an experienced leader who can run a residential operation with care and discipline while keeping the Board informed and the organization financially sound.
Leadership and Governance
Serve as the chief executive of the organization and the primary point of contact for the Board of Trustees.
Carry out the mission and strategic priorities set by the Board, and keep the Board informed on operations, finances, and resident matters.
Support the Board Chair, Treasurer, and committees with timely reporting and prepared meeting materials.
Maintain the organization's bylaws, policies, and governance records.
Operations and Facility Management
Oversee daily operations of the residence and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents.
Manage facility needs, building systems, and repairs, and supervise active facility contracts and vendor agreements.
Oversee food service, including supervision of the Head Chef and the ordering of groceries and supplies.
Maintain the annual operating calendar and respond to urgent operational needs as they arise.
Resident Relations
Screen applications for residency in conjunction with the Board’s Residents Committee
Oversee execution of resident leases and House Rules
Oversee resident housing and food services pursuant to lease and House Rules provisions.
Maintain Resident files in compliance with state and local laws
Monitor resident status and respond to resident matters directly and promptly.
Uphold the quality of life appropriate to the residents served.
Finance and Administration
Manage the organization's budget, financial systems, banking, billing, and payroll.
Maintain banking workflows and signatory authority in coordination with the Treasurer.
Oversee open grants, pledges, and restricted funds, and support the annual audit with the Treasurer and the outside accountant.
Administer insurance policies and maintain accurate financial and administrative records.
Compliance and Licensing
Maintain all licenses, permits, and registered filings, and track renewal and compliance deadlines.
Complete state and county compliance reporting on schedule.
Stay current with the regulatory requirements that apply to the residence.
Development and External Relations
Manage donor relationships and maintain the donor database.
Steward funders, major donors, and government partners, and represent the organization to community partners and the press.
Support fundraising and development efforts in coordination with the Board.
Staff Management
Supervise staff, set clear reporting lines, and manage hiring, performance, and scheduling.
Build and retain a capable team and resolve the administrative roadblocks staff encounter.
Administer personnel policies in coordination with the Personnel Committee
Salary Range: $70,000.00 to $77,000.00

Experience and Qualifications
Seven to ten years of senior leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit, residential, or human services setting.
Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budgets, payroll, grants, and audits.
Experience managing staff, facilities, and vendor relationships.
Familiarity with state and county regulatory compliance and reporting.
Experience with donor management and fundraising.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and sound judgment in resident facing and stakeholder facing matters.
