The American Association for Justice (AAJ®) is seeking a Membership Manager for its Membershipdepartment. The Membership Manager supports the department in increasing acquisitions, recruitment, retention, member benefits, and member satisfaction while maintaining a high level of customer service. This is a fully remote position with a preference for incumbent to live in or near Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, or Houston.
AAJ works to preserve the constitutional right to trial by jury and to make sure people have a fair chance to seek justice when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others—even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations.
Essential job duties include the following:
Support the execution of AAJ’s membership acquisition program. This will include organizing membership drives, working with local members to identify prospective new members, collaborating with the state and local trial lawyer associations (TLAs) on membership, appointment scheduling, and following up with prospects.
Execute AAJ’s retention program to retain members in west & southwest states including monthly calls and emails to lapsed members and working closely with AAJ headquarters to increase AAJ’s overall retention rate.
Provide bi-weekly reports on all activities to the Director of Membership.
Successfully complete assignments within a defined budget.
Act as a liaison between AAJ and local members.
Assist State Trial Lawyer Associations in assigned area with membership recruitment, helping to grow membership in their organizations, and finding synergies between their membership and AAJ’s where possible. Provide assistance with their events and projects when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years’ work experience.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales, marketing, or related field.
Experience selling person-to-person is strongly preferred.
Association experience is strongly preferred.
Exceptional customer service, communication both written and verbal, and public relations abilities.
Strong working knowledge of databases – advanced general computer skills: Membership database (Netforum), Microsoft Suite products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
Must be accurate in work product and must demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively from a remote location.
Ability to work well under pressure, determine priorities, manage budgets, and produce results.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and time management skills.
Strategic thinker with a passionate and optimistic mentality.
Interest in social justice, politics, and protecting consumers is essential.
Able to travel a minimum of 12 times a year and work non-traditional hours, including some evenings and weekends.
