The Texas Nurses Association is seeking a Director of Communications to plan, implement, and evaluate the Association’s communications, marketing, and public relations strategies. This is an opportunity for a communications or marketing leader to join TNA as we’re entering a growth phase with plans to implement new programs and initiatives to increase membership as we continue to advocate for Texas nurses. The Director of Communications is a member of the leadership team and is involved with all strategic and programmatic initiatives.
Responsibilities Include
Evaluate and recommend effective marketing and communication strategies to enhance success of TNA's programs and products
Plan, implement and evaluate communications and marketing responses to emerging issues facing TNA, its stakeholders and the nursing profession
Represent the Association with stakeholder groups, in committee meetings and at other Association functions as necessary.
Oversee all TNA print and electronic publications
Oversee the Association website
Draft and produce communications for TNA staff and Board members as requested
Manage press relationships to ensure targeted coverage
Provide professional communications and marketing expertise to TNA and affiliate organizations
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Five years experience in communications and marketing; at least two years in a leadership role
Experience with the planning and production of print and online publications and marketing materials
Proficient in utilization of technology including website applications, social media and emerging communications technology; strong Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite skills
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Skills in interpersonal communications and relationships, and ability to collaborate well with others
Some evening and occasional weekend work required
Travel locally and throughout the state required
