Position Summary:

The position is the primary producer of content for all of UAB's institutional social media channels and plays a key role in UAB's overall content strategy and brand strategy. This position reports to the Director of Social Media Strategy and partners closely with photo/video, design, PR, content and marketing teams to meet institutional communications and marketing goals through the development of targeted social media content.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Produces content for all of UAB's institutional social media channels and distributes relevant content through social media platforms.

2. Manages content calendar and ensures alignment of social content with other initiatives across UR; monitors advance via social media meetings.

3. Uses advanced social media analytics to measure engagement, reach, guide strategy and objectives; shares/reports analytics to all teams, including both University Relations and distributed communicators. Prepares reports as needed.

4. Learns and pilots new technologies. Coordinates and helps manage all technical and logistical details for social media for UAB.

5. Supports all UAB social media communicators in creative ideation, social strategy and technical questions.

6. Works closely with the photo/video and graphic design teams to best execute social media and content strategy. Works closely with PR/media relations team to produce stories in diverse formats for a social-first approach to increase engagement and target media pitching. Aligns closely with marketing team to produce content to support marketing goals.

7. Develops channel-specific content goals and objectives based on unique audiences. Responsibilities may include conceptualizing, writing, developing, designing, producing, shooting and editing of social media projects. Assists in the optimization of video-based platforms. Manages posts and post scheduling.

8. Performs other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $39,215 - $45,000

Bachelor's degree in digital media, communications, marketing, PR, English, journalism, graphic design, or related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
