The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Trust is seeking a Marketing and Communications Associate to join our growing team. Through AVMA PLIT and AVMA LIFE, the Trust provides AVMA members access to various business and personal insurance offerings including but not limited to, professional liability, business insurance, life and disability coverage, group benefits, financial services, as well as other important benefits. The Trust has been serving AVMA members for over 60 years.
The key role of the Marketing and Communications Associate is to support the mission and vision of the AVMA Trust by copyediting and proofreading marketing and educational materials, maintaining the Trust’s publications calendar, and overseeing the Trust’s social media activities. Additionally, the candidate will provide project management and coordinate the activities of cross-functional teams, as needed. The ideal candidate will be creative, curious, detail-oriented, organized, and deadline driven. They will have a keen interest in learning new information and the ability to work both collaboratively across teams and organizations as well as independently on assigned projects. The Marketing and Communications Associate reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. This role is hybrid, and requires minimal travel.
Key Responsibilities
Copyedit and/or proofread publications, articles, presentations, educational and risk-management resources, websites and landing pages, and an array of marketing materials to create more effective communications, support member engagement, and help to grow the AVMA Trust programs.
Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Director of Trust veterinarians to create annual publication calendars. Then, work with the Trust veterinarians and external partners to manage workflows, review content, and oversee compliance review.
Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop a social media strategy to build engagement with existing outlets, then work with partner agencies to manage each account. Additional responsibilities include directing content development by internal and external partners, developing original content, monitoring accounts daily, and responding to comments – in consultation the Trust veterinarians or Member Experience team, if needed.

To be successful in this role, you must be organized, collaborative, and passionate about the Trust’s growth strategy and mission of serving the veterinary profession. Additional qualifications include:
Minimum of three years’ experience as a copyeditor, writer, and/or proofreader
Minimum of two years’ experience managing social media sites for an organization
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and projects
The ability to manage projects from conception to completion
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate a must
Educational/technical requirements:
Bachelor’s degreein communications, Marketing, English, or a related field
Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as Adobe Acrobat
Experience with Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn in a corporate setting
