The National Urban League (NUL) seeks a Director, Equity, Quality, and Impact. Under general supervision of the Senior Vice Presidents of the Programs Department, the Director is responsible for administering and coordinating all activities related to the achievement of equity and progress via the National Urban League’s programs, initiatives, and policy development, with a particular focus on the visualization and actionable analysis (QuantCrit) of both internal and publicly available data.

A successful candidate will provide NUL executive leadership, our constituents, funders, and partners with a deep and rich understanding of:

• The impact of a program, set of programs, initiative, pilot, or policy on different populations, with a clear and specific emphasis on African American, Black, and Diasporic Immigrant populations, as well as historically disadvantaged urban communities.
• The effect of NUL strategies and investments on the underlying systemic drivers of inequity, access, and opportunity.
• Publicly available data on the conditions of the African American community, particularly across and in the areas of education, youth development, health, workforce development, entrepreneurship, housing, and community development.
• Assist in the development and refinement of a national impact index that captures the work of the Urban League Movement and similarly situated organizations on the lives of members of the African American, Black, and Diasporic Immigrant community.

Experience:

• A minimum of three to five years of work experience in a non-profit, social service agency, government position, or in a higher education setting is preferred.
• Experience in multisector organizations and with multisector projects and initiatives is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in project management, data visualization, QuantCrit, administration, program planning, training, advocacy, or policy is preferred. 
• Familiarity with civil rights and equity-focused human service organizations and funders.
• Successful experience working and communicating with diverse stakeholders and audiences.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills- comfortable in public and high-profile settings, including the ability to translate sophisticated data and outcome concepts into plain language so that they can be readily understood by non-expert and expert audiences alike.
• Substantial and substantive content knowledge and expertise across a number of issues critical to African Americans, urban populations, and for a variety of vulnerable and historically disadvantaged populations.
• Clear expertise in extracting knowledge and insights from noisy, structured, and unstructured data and communicating the same to multiple audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct data and policy analyses that are focused on making progress towards and achieving equity across dimensions of race, gender, socioeconomic status, etc.
• Ability to motivate, coach, and effectively manage staff members with specialized skills and extensive work experience.
• Innovative, creative, and interdisciplinary thinker, particularly in QuantCrit.
• Proficiency in MS Office and statistical programs.
• Proficiency in Tableau, AirtTable, or a similar program.
• Proficiency in social media and persuasive writing and communication is desirable.
• Ability to interact with individuals at all management levels and represent the organization effectively. 
• Ability to speak and write concisely and professionally in order to convey ideas and communicate internally and with stakeholders, constituents, and partners.
• Attention to detail in both the analysis of data and presentation of results.
• Flexibility when priorities, timelines, or circumstances change.
• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
• Ability to work in a NYC based office at least three days a week
