About College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP)
The United States is in the midst of a mental health crisis that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, with 1 in 6 adults having taken a psychiatric medication in the last year. This expansion of pharmacotherapy is overwhelming psychiatrists and other mental health providers. As part of CPNP, you would be part of the solution to improved patient care by educating and advocating for an underutilized member of the mental health treatment team. CPNP was founded 25 years ago as a 501c6 professional membership organization of clinical pharmacists with specialization in psychiatry. CPNP has grown to a membership of approximately 3,000 with approximately 1400 being practicing psychiatric pharmacists, 200 resident trainees, and 1400 pharmacy student members. Though a small association and a small staff of soon to be 6, CPNP works organizes and coordinates over 500 volunteers and subject matter experts annually to provide services in the areas of education, information, government affairs, professional affairs, health policy and practice information for pharmacists who work as part of interprofessional teams to provide medication management and care for those living with psy...chiatric, neurologic, and substance use disorders. CPNP is a provider of high-quality pharmacy education and is an approved provider by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Additionally, CPNP is the sole provider of recertification continuing education for the Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP) as approved by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS). In 2020 CPNP served over 2000 learners delivering 23,000+ total hours of ACPE credit. CPNP produces 2 BCPP preparatory educational products, 6 recertification educational products for the BCPP, offers a 4 day hybrid Annual Meeting which is hosted annually in various US cities, and develops and offers various webinars and other continuing education offerings. CPNP maintains a small, physical office in Lincoln, Nebraska but all employees work remotely.
