Otter Products is currently recruiting for a Director of Insights and Innovation based in Fort Collins, CO to manage the Research and Innovation teams, ensure the execution of consumer/end-user research for the company, gather insights to help inform product and marketing decisions, and support the end-to-end innovation process.
As the Director of Insights and Innovation, you will participate with other senior leadership to establish strategic plans and objectives, and drive a comprehensive and successful insights-to-innovation process for the business.
You will partner with cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to lead the Innovation process. This role involves facilitating discussions around patterns and trends, shepherding exploration of ideas through our product life cycle discovery process, working through the concept phase, and bringing new opportunities through commercialization.

Foster an inclusive culture of Innovation across the entire organization.
Build and cultivate strong internal relationships to better collaborate, partner, and facilitate discussions with cross-functional team members covering Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Sales.
Lead and facilitate annual patterns and trends work, gathering and synthesizing megatrends across multiple industries, identifying potential opportunities for exploration, and cascading findings to senior leadership.
Manage the Innovation funnel, ensuring the funnel is incorporating new ideas and opportunities, has executive buy-in and support, and that rapid progress is made through the early discovery stages.
Oversee the Discovery and Concept phases of the product life cycle (PLC) for new products or business opportunities.
Plan and oversee the primary and secondary consumer/end-user research efforts, ensuring timely and relevant insights are gathered to help inform product and marketing decisions, create sales tools, and support the end-to-end innovation process.
Responsible for meeting timelines for all deliverables, cascading broad communication of project status, and leading quarterly reviews with the executive leadership team.
Plan and manage the annual budget for the Insights and Innovation team, including cross-functional alignment on priorities, timing and scope for consumer research projects.
Manage the Research Analysts and Innovation Team members, routinely coach and develop each team member, insuring they have everything they need to be successful.
Bring a positive and collaborative leadership presence to the organization, effectively communicating the future vision through written, visual, and verbal storytelling.
Inspire, motivate, and develop a team of top performing research analysts and innovation leaders.
Model servant leadership in day to day activities and within people management activities.
Support and maintain a positive safety culture by being an active leader in all safety program initiatives.
Other duties as required
Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.
Minimum of ten years of product, marketing, and/or design experience required.
Minimum five years previous management experience mentoring, leading, supervising, or managing people required
Experience in Consumer Research methodologies required.
Experience in Design (industrial, product, experience) preferred.
