The Business Analyst, Business Affairs role is responsible for developing and supporting contractual and business strategies for the Disney Media Distribution group supporting the media networks, direct-to-consumer and digital transactional businesses. The Business Analyst is integral to the creation of key resources and documents that streamline our contractual processes and ensure consistency and compliance across the various businesses. Additionally, the role will focus on analyzing contracts and supporting negotiations with distribution partners; managing contractual and MFN compliance; and evaluating new distribution opportunities.
Advise internal stakeholders on contractual and business guidance to advance the Disney Media Distribution priorities.
Support and participate in negotiations with key partners, including: cable, satellite, telco, digital MVPDs and digital platforms (e.g., Amazon, Microsoft).
Collaborate with senior members of the Business Affairs team to establish standard terms and deal structures that can be applied across accounts. Partner with business and legal colleagues to implement best practices and processes in connection with business needs.
Create and maintain various contractual analyses and summaries across accounts and services. Maintain contractual systems, standards and procedures including MFN analysis and compliance.
Provide timely and thoughtful contractual advice on potential risks and challenges, and propose practical, responsive solutions.
Coordinate with senior members of the Business Affairs team, Legal, Strategy, Sales and other internal stakeholders to align on key issues and goals and to support a streamlined contract negotiation process.
Communicate effectively to all internal stakeholders. Summarize and communicate complex contractual analyses in an efficient and effective manner to a variety of audiences. In addition, the role will provide project-related mentorship to junior level staff.
Minimum 1 year of related work experience within legal, business affairs or a related media field
Understanding of licensing agreements, media industry landscape and current competitive trends. Experience in contract and general corporate law preferred.
Excellent contractual analysis, organizational and communication skills
Aptitude and enthusiasm for navigating and analyzing contracts and other legal documents to determine detailed contractual ramifications of deal points (e.g. MFN impacts)
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
JD or paralegal preferred
