The Arc of Union County, Inc. is a non-profit, 501c(3) organization headquartered in Springfield, NJ, dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc serves more than 1,000 adults and children each month from the 21 towns in Union County, as well as the greater Northern and Central NJ counties. The Finance Director is a key leadership role reporting directly to the Executive Director and working collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team. The incumbent will have responsibility for finance, payroll, audits, financial compliance and procurement. To include financial oversight of The Kohler Academy.
Provide oversight of the day-to-day financial management of the agency operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants management, and the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
School finance responsibilities include: direct all financial, project-based and departmental accounting, Oversee and manage the annual audit, Manage tuition receivables, payables, vendor relations, investments.
Create and maintain detailed systems for financial backup documentation for both the agency and the school to maintain and insure fiscal health.
Manage payroll and 401(k) benefit/contribution, along with the management of yearly W2 creation.
Manage all financial audits and 990 preparation with external auditors.
Issuing tax notices (1099’s) to vendors and contractors as required.
Hands-on knowledge and use of Abila financial software.
Ability to develop budgets and refine the financial operations infrastructure, produce key financial analyses, reports and cash flow forecasts in a Fee For Service business.
Ability to achieve daily financial operational objectives by contributing accounting information, completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
Thorough, timely budget preparation; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; active support of A/R activities.
Liaison to the Board and lead of the Board Finance Committee.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Requirements: The ideal candidate is equipped with a Master’s Degree in finance or accounting and a minimum of 7+ years of experience as a senior manager in Finance. Must have a CPA, and financial experience in an IDD nonprofit setting. School Business Administrator certification a plus. Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
