SJCT is seeking an experienced Director of Development to lead the organization’s fundraising, donor education, member engagement, planned giving, and project fundraising activities.
The Director of Development leads the work of SJCT’s Development Department and coordinates with the Development Committee of the Board of Directors. Objectives include the launch of a Legacy/Planned Giving campaign to grow SJCT’s $1.9M endowment. To ensure a broad and diverse funding base, the position oversees fundraising strategies, including: soliciting gifts from donors and corporate sponsors (and stewarding those relationships), researching and applying for foundation grants, and executing two annual fundraising events.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of development experience working in a non-profit setting, with a proven track record in fundraising. SJCT’s annual budget is $850K, 65% of which is provided through fundraising.
This is a new full-time position which reports to the Executive Artistic Director. The Development Director supervises the Development Officer, a half-time administrative position. Office hours are flexible, some evening and weekend work is required.

SJCT presents community productions, educational workshops and classes, touring artists, films, and many other events. It is a place where our community gathers to enjoy entertainment, see friends and neighbors, and experience the creativity of island residents and professional touring artists.
