The Division of OSU Ecampus is seeking a Communications Manager. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Executive Director.
Oregon State University Ecampus is seeking a Communications Manager for the Ecampus Research Unit. The Communications Manager is a professional faculty member in the Oregon State University Division of Ecampus, a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization with a commitment to providing access to Oregon State University’s programs of excellence. The Communications Manager provides project management and communication support for the Ecampus Research Unit (ECRU) team, setting up projects, ensuring deadlines are met and materials are distributed. This includes, but is not limited to, organizing and maintaining the unit’s project database, working with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project, and producing regular status reports.

40% Project Coordination
Provide coordination and project management support for research-related projects and marketing initiatives.
Develop strategy for communication plans in collaboration with ECRU and Ecampus Marketing teams.
Plan, schedule and monitor the production schedule for research projects and initiatives.
Attend kickoff and strategy meetings to discuss the requirements of each project and determine the marketing assets that need to be produced.
Manage the communication plans for projects that involve multiple stakeholders both inside and outside the organization.
Oversee budget requests and payments for ECRU projects.
25% Creative Services
Design slide decks for conference presentations aligned with OSU brand guidelines.
Strategize and plan for dissemination of research results (e.g. create marketing plans, digital materials to be shared with partners, etc.).
Ensure that all final assets meet the OSU Ecampus branding guidelines before dissemination and serve as the ECRU brand advocate.
Develop print materials in collaboration with Ecampus Marketing.
20% Social Media and Content Management
Continually monitor the website to ensure that content is up-to-date and make updates as needed.
Create and manage the social media calendar for the unit.
Liaise with Ecampus Marketing regarding content creation for outside of OSU (guest blog posts, etc.).
Write copy for social media platforms communicating about ECRU projects and initiatives.
Manage podcast post-production tasks and schedule (e.g. creating and posting show notes, creating social media posts about featured episodes, creating instructor guides, etc.).
10% Community Management
Coordinate engagement opportunities with research communities hosted by ECRU.
Support on-site research engagement events.
Respond to inquiries regarding joining and contributing to ECRU research communities.
Administrative support duties related to in-person and digital events.
5% Professional Development, Service and Leadership
Participate in professional development opportunities that are appropriate for this assignment.
Provide service to OSU by working on Division, University, regional and national committees and projects.

Bachelor’s degree in business/marketing, communications, journalism or related field.
Two years of professional marketing/communications experience, such as managing creative projects.
Experience with managing social media accounts on behalf of an organization.
Experience managing complex projects.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tools and concepts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with many cross-functional partners.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Experience working with academic research.
Experience working with a marketing or public relations department.
Experience using survey design tools (e.g., Qualtrics) and drafting survey questionnaires.
Well-versed in The Associated Press style copywriting.
Experience with the Wordpress content management system.
Experience working in higher education.
Demonstrated skills in design and visual communication.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
Experience creating data visualization.
