Founded in 1967, The Aesthetic Society is recognized as the world’s leading professional organization of ABPS board-certified plastic surgeons who are dedicated to the art, science, and safe practice of aesthetic surgery and cosmetic medicine of the face and body. The Society’s over 2500 active members worldwide are recognized as Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. Formerly known as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the Society is well underway in the process of rebranding.
With headquarters in Garden Grove, CA, The Aesthetic Society has a staff of 37 and an $11M budget.
Reporting to the Executive Director, and located at its headquarters, The Senior Director Communications and Marketing plays a critical leadership role, participating in crafting growth strategies and implementing plans while supervising a staff of four individuals located in the office and remotely along with key contracted employees. The Senior Director, Communications and Marketing will lead by example and will continue to foster the inclusive and flexible culture that makes The Society a place employees enjoy.
Essential duties and responsibilities encompass the full range of consumer and membership marketing including: Development of an institution wide communications plan, media and public relations; digital and social media marketing, promotional activities around meetings and symposia, newsletters, crisis management, market research and brand positioning and development. The successful candidate will be able to develop the strategy as well as implement the communications and marketing plans.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor’s Degree; advanced degree preferred
Ten or more years’ experience running the communications function of a nonprofit membership organization
Senior experience in consumer branding via digital marketing channels
Excellent writing skills
Senior level experience in public relations, particularly crisis communications
Successful creation and implementation of complex marketing communications programs
Ability to thrive in a flat, non-hierarchical organization
Ability to lead direction and recognize excellence in: Graphic Design; Video production; Written communication; and electronic media.
Successful management of finances and budgets
Comfortable in a medical environment
