Competitive Intelligence is focused on how to optimize Wayfair’s strategic positioning in its rapidly evolving competitive landscape. This cross-functional and entrepreneurial team is building cutting edge ‘Big Data’ and Advanced Analytics capabilities that impact every major business function at the company; this unique, external market perspective complements our robust internal data to help the organization make smarter decisions. Past projects have included: developing first-ever dynamic visualizations that enable category managers to optimize our product selection, creating products that track competitor movements and assess relative strategic importance over time, and building dashboards that illuminate competitors’ marketing strategies and spending behavior.
North America Retail - Category Management
Category Management is composed of Wayfair’s lead merchandising teams focused on generating high revenue growth. Dedicated teams run category-specific businesses, such as furniture, bedding, seasonal décor, lighting, tabletop, and are responsible for managing the overall health of the category, primarily by building and growing strong supplier relationships. In addition to category teams, we have curation-focused teams that drive category strategy through lifestyle brands, promotions, exclusive brand development, catalog design and 3D visualization & operations.
The Global Merchandising department is responsible for owning and maintaining Wayfair’s e-commerce catalog comprised of over 10 million+ products. Our department consists of multiple teams who each play a crucial role in defining and executing on ‘best in class’ merchandising. The Merchandising Operations teams drives the management of our enormous product catalog and provides suppliers with tools to continually expand our product assortment. The Vertical Merchandising team focuses on improving the customer’s onsite shopping experience, while the Data Integrations & Analytics team leverages Big Data to optimize internal merchandising processes. Together these teams deliver on key merchandising goals.
Our Marketing team drives growth for Wayfair on every major advertising platform. We aren’t your standard marketers: we own the strategy, P&L, and product roadmaps for our portfolio of bleeding-edge and in-house-built marketing and AdTech products. We leverage them to acquire high potential customers and engage them to come back again and again. Operations General Management
Operations General Management in Wayfair covers a broad-based continuum that includes: Supplier Operations, International Supply Chain, Fulfillment, Operational Excellence, Sales and Service, Global Delivery, Customer Experience Center of Excellence, and more. The Operations team develops and executes transformational strategies that generate game-changing competitive advantage and enduring customer satisfaction. Roles in Operations combine strategy with hands on execution and the ability to own and drive results. Dedicated teams work directly with suppliers, vendors, customers and internal stakeholders to provide new levels of efficiency and performance supporting all Wayfair businesses globally. Success relies on innovative problem solving, strong business acumen, quantitative skills and collaboration with external and internal partners.
Operations Analytics serves as internal, cross-functional analytics consultants supporting the Operations group and senior leadership team on a wide array of strategic and operational decisions including network and transportation design, 3rd-party carrier strategy, warehouse footprint optimization, facility capacity forecasting, and inventory planning.
Profit Management balances the critical trade-off between short- and long-term profit and topline growth across Wayfair’s sites, geographies, and categories. In order to answer thorny strategy questions that guide go-to-market strategy, we leverage unique, proprietary, and massive datasets, along with highly quantitative business analytics and cutting-edge data science techniques, and a constant flow of experimentation on consumer response. As the owners of Wayfair’s pricing and related algorithms, Profit Management then develops/tests into pricing strategies that support our growth plan, manages the related impact for the broader ecosystem of algorithms at Wayfair, and works closely with cross-functional partners to ensure that the merchandising, marketing, and operational strategies are aligned. We are looking for candidates who are excited about thinking critically about business strategy, analyzing large sets of data and experimenting, demystifying how key algorithms work and influence each other, and collaborating with a cross-functional group of business partners on high-impact initiatives.

2) WayForward Field Operations Executive Leadership Program
The WayForward Program is a ~2-year executive leadership program designed to propel your career as a leader and innovator at Wayfair. Through hands-on experience in our fulfillment centers across the US and Canada, you will have the opportunity to make critical impacts on our rapidly growing business right from the start. We believe global operations is the heart of E-Commerce and our fulfillment center operations define our long term competitive advantage. The WayForward program is strategically important for our success, as we view participants as the pipeline for future executive leadership.
Months 1-6: After your cohort orientation at our Boston headquarters, WayForward participants will then travel to a fulfillment center where you will be immersed in our global processes and best practices. You’ll spend the first 6 months as a Warehouse Supervisor, where you will gain invaluable insights into how our fulfillment centers operate. You’ll also oversee the productivity and quality of fulfillment center operations.
Months 6-24: Participants will then progress into critical strategy focused roles as Operations Managers and Senior Operations Managers, where you will drive continuous improvement and lead large teams. You will have opportunities to take on assignments in several locations, including our Boston headquarters, and work alongside Supply Chain leadership.
Throughout the program, you will receive regular training and executive exposure through a formalized mentorship program, which will position you as a future leader of our organization. After the program, participants will remain in senior leadership positions at our fulfillment centers or at corporate headquarters depending on your preferences and business needs.
