About the Position:
Playworks is hiring a Director of National Partnerships to lead the identification, development and stewardship of strategic partnerships and programs with national corporations. This role is responsible for a revenue target of $1-1.5M annually. The goal of these partnerships and strategic programs is to support Playworks’ mission and movement building efforts on behalf of kids nationwide, to boost Playworks’ visibility nationally and to engage Playworks’ regional teams for partnership activation. This is a full-time exempt position that reports to the President and will work closely with regional executive directors and the national development team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead development and implementation of a nationwide strategic plan for national partnership engagements that increase investment in Playworks’ mission and programs
Identify and collaboratively assess corporate and national partner opportunities; develop effective cultivation strategy to secure these partnerships
Initiate contacts and develop and nurture strategic/mutually beneficial relationships with one or multiple corporate partners to drive additional revenue generation for Playworks (ex: sponsorships, cause marketing opportunities, employee engagement opportunities etc)
Communicate region-specific corporate partnership opportunities and engage executive directors to build and sustain these relationships
Collaborate with communications director to create marketing collateral for corporate partnership engagement; including social media campaigns
Research and capture effective corporate engagement practices and ensure knowledge is transferred to the national team and executive director team (ex: webinars, trainings, readings)
Contribute to forecasting and budgeting for both corporate and national partner alliances
Achieve assigned revenue goals for the corporate segment
5-8 years of experience in corporate fundraising, sales, marketing, cause marketing, philanthropy including experience managing national partnerships; Experience working in a nonprofit or CSR preferred
Demonstrated personal and professional integrity, particularly with respect to maintaining ethical fundraising standards
Desire to see results. Proven track record of success, translating strategy into tactical plans, in implementation and acquisition
Practical experience managing multiple partnerships effectively, as well as managing and meeting deadlines
Experience representing corporate partners’ perspectives internally, ability to troubleshoot inhibitors to effective partnerships and make recommendations
Understanding and previous use of a consultative process to design and develop partnering solutions
Ability to partner with and manage vendor relationships with associated partner campaigns
Collaborative selling skills coupled with the ability to sell “service” oriented products
Ability to effectively partner with regional executive directors and other staff to assess partnership “fit” for the region and if appropriate ensure coordinated relationship transition and management
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
Authentic capacity to comfortably work with all levels of staff and many different types of people
Skilled in forecasting, planning and reporting results in relation to partnerships
Passionate commitment to Playworks’ mission and long-term vision on behalf of children and the importance of play
Comfort with a fast-paced, playful, exuberant and professional workplace culture
Advanced proficiency in Google, MS Office and Salesforce CRM
Creative and flexible approach with demonstrated ability to adapt to audience and to strategic needs
Flexibility to travel required (15-20%)
