Are you looking to gain valuable outreach experience working on a national public awareness campaign with an established non-profit organization in the DC metro area?
The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) is seeking a part-time outreach intern to support its digital campaign, Lead with Languages (www.leadwithlanguages.org).
With language skills growing in importance in the job market, yet fewer than 1 in 10 Americans able to speak a second language, Lead with Languages is aimed at making language proficiency a national priority, with a goal to inspire a new generation of Americans competent in other languages and cultures and fully equipped to compete and succeed in a global economy.
The outreach intern will work in close collaboration with ACTFL staff to research, draft, and publish materials online, as well as to interact with the campaign’s online audience.
The intern will be paid a monthly stipend; this role is on-site in Alexandria, VA.
Create and post engaging social media, blog, and/or site content for the Lead with Languages
Identify curated online content appropriate to share via the Lead with Languages
Engage with the campaign’s online audience; conduct outreach for written testimonial interviews of students, teachers, and professionals.
Provide other outreach support, as directed by ACTFL’s outreach manager.

Applicants should understand the digital media landscape and showcase strong writing, communication, and online research skills. The applicant must be well-versed in the use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
Knowledge or previous experience with Sprout Social, WordPress, Canva, online publications, or awareness campaigns is a plus.
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate an interest in language learning.

Be enrolled in a college program leading to a BA, or have recently graduated (5 years).
Work well in a team environment but also can function independently and efficiently.
