The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing the marketing and publicity efforts of the organization. This role supports the efforts of each committee in order to promote each aspect of the conference and exposition.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute an annual marketing and publicity strategic and tactical plan
Manage the marketing and publicity budget
Conceptualize and execute multi-channel communication programs to effectively promote Pittcon
Prepare presentations for a variety of marketing and internal purposes
Support sales and lead generation efforts
Maintain and establish relationships with the media
Creation of editorial content for various industry publications
Oversee sponsorship, tradeshow, and other partner programs
Ensure on-time completion of all marketing projects
Measure and report on performance of marketing campaigns
Analyze consumer behavior and market trends to adjust campaigns accordingly
Manage and work with the Marketing Assistant
Work collaboratively with the Webmaster to update web content
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal skills
Able to work as a team and independently
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
Proficient with the Adobe Creative Cloud including InDesign, PhotoShop, and Illustrator
Experience with email marketing software
Experience working within a budget
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field
5-7 years of experience
Exhibition or event management experience preferred
Experience with volunteers and a non-profit work environment
Approximately 10% of travel required

Pittcon is the world’s leading annual conference and exposition on laboratory science. Pittcon attracts attendees from industry, academia and government from over 90 countries worldwide.
Pittcon is made up of the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh (SSP) and the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh (SACP).
Both societies are non-profit organizations dedicated to furthering science education in the Western Pennsylvania region. Members of the Pittsburgh Conference are selected from the memberships of the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh and the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh. The two Societies and The Pittsburgh Conference are non-profit organizations dedicated to science education. The volunteer members of the Pittsburgh Conference are supported by an 11-person staff who work at the Pittcon office in Pittsburgh.
