The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for an energetic, detail-oriented candidate for our Membership Marketing Specialist position.
This position logistically supports the AUA exhibits at Section Meetings and other recruitment exhibits (paperwork, promotional emails, working with vendors, coordinating internal meetings, packing, working with fulfillment, tracking, follow-ups); support of engagement, recruitment and retention programs, including the Member Get-A-Member (Referral) program, as well as tracking and measuring the outcomes and effectiveness of this program; facilitates website content updates; support for basic technical inquiries for Urology Place; responsible for deploying member emails and newsletters through Real Magnet platform; logistical, administrative and promotional support for the AUA Annual Meeting, AUA Section initiatives and Member Services committee/council activities; coordinating membership centric communication initiatives and supporting all other department member/customer service efforts as assigned.
The individual in this position will:
Works with the AUA Section contacts and other meeting organizers to facilitate AUA’s presence at the AUA Section’s Annual Meetings, as well as recruitment exhibits. This includes communicating with the meeting contacts to ensure that we receive the necessary paperwork and forms to exhibit, as well as communicating with AUA departments to collect materials to display, and coordinating the shipment logistics and paperwork for AUA staff who are attending the meeting. Works with the Member Services Engagement Manager to prepare the pre-conference materials to ensure the staff attending are clear on the objectives of the meeting and have the logistical information necessary for a successful on-site presence. Works with MS Management team to track the action items from meeting reports to ensure that they are explored for possible implementation the following year.
Assists with email deployment of lead processing and follow-ups from meetings, conferences and tradeshows.
Works with Manager to identify and procure promotional giveaways for the year. Works directly with vendors to identify products, best pricing, place order and track inventory.
Works with Manager to coordinate the Member-Get-A-Member program. Works directly on the administration, promotion, tracking and reporting of the Member Get-A-Member program, to include sending monthly Thank You emails, working with the Marketing/Communications team on promotions of the program, running reports and tracking participation and making recommendations for improvement.
With direction from Manager, provide administrative, logistical and promotional support for AUA Section initiatives and committee/council activities. Assist in coordination of communication with vendors, speakers, committees/councils as needed.
Assists with tracking of metrics of campaigns by setting up market codes in Personify and understanding tracking mechanisms that can be used in our email system.
Coordinates the UroChallenge, working with IS on platform and questions.
Records and distributes minutes of internal planning meetings with marketing/communications.
Supports various member engagement initiatives including the AUA online community platform (Higher Logic).
Updates standard operating procedures to ensure current processes are documented.
During critical times, may be asked to provide customer service support via phone, fax, e-mail, direct mail and in-person.
Attend AUA Annual Meeting and may serve as liaison to other meetings and committees as requested (e.g., Section Annual Meeting, Specialty Society Meetings, etc.).

Candidates must be able to provide superior service delivery while working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. It is essential that the individual in this role have strong organizational and communication skills. In addition:
Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field preferred.
Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with online marketing automation systems, community platforms and social media tools.
3-4 years communications/marketing experience, preferably in individual member associations.
Experience coordinating projects.
Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and organize work in a fast-paced environment.
Able to function well in, and contribute to a team environment, but also work independently.
This position will be required to represent the AUA at the AUA Annual Meeting, and possible other conferences and will be required to have the physical stamina to stand for extended periods of time, walk throughout the day to various parts of convention centers and potentially work long hours during events.
Ability to lift/handle objects and boxes during packing at conferences.
