The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) is seeking an enthusiastic Public Relations Specialist to support the public relations and content writing activities of PHTA in our efforts to improve, increase and promote PHTA services and brand.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, proactive problem solver and detail orientated team player that is committed to providing superior service. Also, he/she would possess strong writing, communication and organizational skills as well as a sharp eye for accuracy, syntax, grammar and aesthetics.
PHTA has two locations: Alexandria, VA., and Colorado Springs, CO. Interested candidates from either geographical location are invited to apply.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:
Serve as an active and participating member of the PHTA Marketing and Communications team.
Coordinate media and outreach strategies and campaigns.
Create, distribute and report metrics for press releases.
Assist with the preparation and editing of marketing materials including presentations, speeches, scripts, brochures, data, images and reports.
Write brand and campaign copy for various PHTA initiatives.
Create content for blogs and articles.
Provide technical writing and editing to various PHTA departments.
Under time-sensitive deadlines, create content for news releases, blogs, newsletters, bulletins, scripts, trade publication articles, multimedia productions, social media initiatives, talking points and other printed materials for public and media events.
Responsible for booking media sponsorships for the World Aquatic Health Conference.
Create and maintain relationships with key press contacts and manages print and digital ad calendar.
Provide research, writing, editing and executive of various PHTA projects.
Proof content from partners and volunteers as needed.
Review and edit marketing/communications materials including emails and e-newsletters for grammatical errors and brand compliance.
Track, measure and analyze public relations data.
Represent PHTA as a brand ambassador at key trade show events as needed.
Best Qualified Candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a closely related field and five years’ public relations, public information, media and/or customer relations experience.
The ability to work independently or collaboratively and under deadline pressure.
Effective and grammatically proficient writing, editing, and public speaking abilities.
Familiarity with design programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
Basic understanding of web language HTML
Staunch attention to detail.
Ability to balance work on several projects at a time.
The ability to establish strong working relationships with PHTA staff, stakeholders and key vendors.
