MAPI in Arlington, VA is searching for a Director, Sales to lead the sales function and generate new business revenue through presenting our value proposition and selling memberships to mid-to-senior corporate executives from the world’s largest manufacturing companies. We seek a talented and motivated person who can take advantage of our large prospect pool and directly impact the bottom line.
The Director, Sales is the senior leader on the sales team who reports to the Vice President and works with VP to enhance and refine sales strategy and tactics. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated sales leader with the ability to lead a team and concurrently maintain a large sales pipeline. This role is a blend of management and individual contribution to the sales team.
The Director, Sales works with the VP to develop the sales strategy, supports and mentors the sales team, and monitors the pipeline and sales results against goals. She/He also collaborates with other departments related to prospecting and growth efforts.
As an individual contributor, the Director, Sales helps to bolster the prospecting pool and sells memberships to mid-to-senior corporate executives from the world’s largest manufacturing companies.
In this position, the selected candidate will:
Work with VP to strategize, analyze, and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results; with the ability to pivot quickly based on need and data
Support the development of goals and operating procedures, as needed
Train, develop, and manage direct reports
Oversight and reporting on the sales process
Ability to clearly articulate the MAPI value prop to grow market share
Ability to understand our competitors and articulate our unique differentiators
Identify prospect companies and individuals for membership
Close sales via phone, email, or occasionally in-person meetings
Works closely with membership teams and directors to identify needs and areas for growth in the council and Silver programs
Qualified candidates must have at least 5-7 years of experience in sales and membership, with at least 2 years in a sales managerial oversight position; and a Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
Other qualifications include:
Strong understanding and experience providing sales reporting, metrics, and data
Experience working with senior-level executives at Fortune 1000 companies
Understanding and experience with how sales supports a customer experience (CX) focused organization
Strong business acumen; understanding of data, reporting, and the true cost of acquisition of customer
Strong focus on customer service and an understanding of the holistic customer experience
Confidence and the ability to complete a sale while remaining true to MAPI’s core values
Desire to understand the challenges facing the manufacturing sector and to help be part of the solution to keep the sector strong and vibrant through the development of manufacturing executives
