The American Society for Nephrology (ASN) seeks a Self-Assessment Manager to oversee the peer-review and production processes for ASN’s premier program, Nephrology Self-Assessment Program (NephSAP). The Manager will ensure that NephSAP meets the goals and objectives of the society and the Editorial Director. This position will report to the Senior Director of Education.
Serve as the primary staff contact for the Editorial Director and Editorial Board of NephSAP.
Oversee all operational elements of the editorial, continuing medical education (CME), maintenance of certification (MOC), production, and design processes, from issue planning to online presentation of the finished product.
Ensure NephSAP manuscript processing, peer review, and education systems function optimally and meet/exceed the needs of learners, readers, editors, and reviewers, and meet/exceed accreditation requirements.
Schedule editorial meetings, develop agendas, and provide minutes, as requested by the Editorial Director.
Stay current with technology and industry advances that will advance the user experience and streamline the work of volunteers and staff. Advise Editorial Director of technological innovations, and work with appropriate vendors to test and implement new features, as appropriate within strategic and budget guidelines.
Ensure that online features such as videos, podcasts, and interactive content are produced and published as required.
Support authors, reviewers, and editors to ensure that the submission and review process is efficient and meets high standards of presentation excellence. Respond to all user feedback in a timely fashion, triaging requests as necessary and appropriate.
Serve as the primary staff liaison for the technology/website vendor.
Prepare accurate and timely budgets, including accurate projection of costs of new features and technology advances.
Present monthly summaries of user data and program analytics to the Editorial Director and Senior Director of Education in order to assess trends in user activity, support promotion of the program, and ensure that NephSAP continues to meet the needs of all users.
Provide support for other educational activities as needed.
At least 5 years of related professional experience with demonstrated success managing and improving production processes and supporting educational content.
Demonstrated success in bringing projects to completion, on time and within budget.
Experience with lifelong learning/medical education products for physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Proven ability to set priorities, take initiative, manage multiple projects, and stay current with industry standards and technological advances to maintain the highest standards of excellence.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Good negotiation skills.
Ability to collaborate with and build bridges among departments.
Proven success working in a fast-paced team environment.
