The Student Conservation Association (SCA), a national force of youth conservation volunteers, has an exciting opportunity in our Finance Department. America's #1 youth conservation organization seeks a Payroll Assistant in our Charlestown, New Hampshire office.
Reporting directly to the Controller, this position is responsible for the preparation and disbursement of a bi-monthly payroll in a multi-state environment. Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data. This includes the coordination between finance (payroll), human resources and other departments to ensure proper flow, maintenance of employee data, monitoring and overseeing a company's payroll in a manner consistent with internal standards along with Federal and State regulations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Manage workflow to ensure that Bi-Weekly Payroll transactions are processed timely and accurately;
Receive, validate, fold, stuff and mail paychecks;
Verify accuracy of new hire/rehire entry (including feed uploads and PAF entry) in the payroll system;
Research and process pay errors for waged/salaried/stipend/volunteer employees;
Validate/load import files received from HR;
Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned by management;
Maintains confidentiality of all Payroll & HR matters;
Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality;
Ensures excellent customer service by developing strong relationships throughout the organization to all customers, both internal and external and delivers effective and timely support to staff;
Manages competing demands and frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a positive professional manner;
Maintains a working knowledge of all SCA programs and related benefit offerings;
Understand and model SCA's Operating Values and Leadership Behaviors;
Understand and abide by policies and guidelines in SCA's Staff Handbook.
Proficient in identifying and resolving problems in a timely professional manner;
Accuracy and thoroughness and the ability to monitor own work to ensure quality;

General understanding of state and federal tax and FLSA laws.
Education and Experience
Associates degree with 2+ years' experience in job related field (payroll or HR) preferred;
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms;
