The American Society for Microbiology (ASM), headquartered in Washington, DC, is seeking an Editorial Coordinator to handle all tasks required to support and facilitate peer review of manuscripts submitted to the society’s journals. Primary responsibilities include the processing and quality control of submitted manuscripts; corresponding with authors, editors and reviewers during all stages of peer review; and providing editorial and technical support.

• Minimum BA/BS degree or equivalent job experience • 3+ years experience with scholarly journals publishing and interest in the evolving publishing industry landscape, including knowledge of peer review processes • Experience with a professional association or society preferred • Advanced knowledge of MS Office • Familiarity with web-based technologies • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and analytical skills • Demonstrated ability to interact with internal and external constituents diplomatically and to maintain confidentiality as appropriate • Strong attention to detail • Ability to exercise sound judgment • Ability to adapt to changes in work environment • Ability to work well under pressure
