INTRODUCTION Join our team in a brand new position at Unity Health Care. We are seeking an exceptionally creative, strong editorial and entrepreneurial Internal Communications Specialist to join our communications team to bolster the communication efforts across our multi-site organization. This important role will serve to strengthen company culture through effective communication mechanisms across the organization. The Internal Communications Specialist ability to develop engaging content to share Unity Health Care’s goals and initiatives as well as staff highlights, programs, and important updates will be critical to providing information that resonates with employees. As a new position and with strong writing skills, the Internal Communications Specialist will support senior managers to develop an internal philosophy of what internal communications looks like at Unity Health Care and will then develop the program to implement strategies to meet objectives.
SPECIFIC DUTIES • Under the direction of the Director of Communications, establish internal communications strategies in conjunction with senior managers to develop and support organizational messages and keep staff informed of developments. • Assist with internal content strategy, editorial plans, storytelling and information for internal channels in conjunction with Director of Communications. • Creatively conceive and support communication programs and content strategy across multiple channels: internal television network, intranet/online, multimedia, video, print, newsletter, etc. • Manages internal organizational intranet. • Develops a calendar of internal communications to create a consistent path of conversation for employees. • Develops content and publishes monthly employee e-newsletter and hardcopy newsletters. • Under the direction of the Director of Communications, develops content and manages company-wide special announcements via email or other internal mechanisms. • Building strong relationships with staff at health care sites to development content to share among the organization. • Assists with content development on social media platforms. • Coordinate video projects for internal and external requests. • Manage internal marketing and communication requests. • Track progress of internal communications goals set with the Director of Communications to ensure messaging is effective. • Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all platforms. • Proactively work to improve internal communications and messaging. • Assist with the development of content for other department areas including but not limited to external newsletters and fundraising appeals.
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or a related field. • Relevant experience may substitute for a degree on a year for year basis. • At least 5 years of communications experience. Non-profit experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Experience in a communications team, especially internal communication for a dispersed workforce. • Excellent ability to build strong relationships among staff. • Excellent interviewing, copy-writing and editing skills. • Ability to work independently. • Prioritizes and manages multiple projects. • Excellent presentation, public speaking, and verbal communication skills. • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills with internal and external partners. • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and communications goals. • Ability to travel and availability to perform job-related duties during weekend and evening hours. • Project management experience a plus.
