RHD is seeking an experienced leader to join its Fundraising team to serve as Director of Development. This position leads and manages RHD’s fundraising efforts. This individual will be responsible for cultivating and enhancing relationships with current and perspective donors, foundations and corporations. The Director of Development is responsible for developing, implementing and administering a comprehensive, sustainable fundraising program. The function of this role includes overseeing an annual appeal, major gifts, planned giving and special events.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive development plan for RHD and its programs.
Cultivate long term relationships with major prospects/ donors by implementing strategies
Identify and solicit major gifts for annual, programmatic and special events from individuals, corporations, and foundations
Plan, implement, and manage a planned giving program
Develop and maintain knowledge of corporate and foundation funding sources
Lead, plan, and executive fundraising events
Network and build relationships in the business community to increase awareness of RHD
Prepare presentations, proposals, and stewardship reports
Management of Assistant Director of Development and Development Associate
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10 years of comprehensive fundraising/development experience or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
Five years of experience in a director level capacity
Experience in annual gift programming
Excellent verbal and presentation skills
Ability to problem solve and set priorities
Professional and positive manner
Strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of fundraising databases, i.e., Raiser’s Edge
