The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Institutional Advancement is a key member of the Stephens College Office of Institutional Advancement and serves as the leader in residence, while the Vice President plays an active, external role. Overseeing all aspects of the currently $1.3-million-dollar annual fund and comprehensive alumnae engagement programs, the AVP will work to create an ecosystem of engagement charting a path for broader participation and unrestricted support for the college. She/he will enjoy the full support of all positions within the Advancement team to strategically engage in the plan for this work. This is a salaried position with occasional events in the evening and limited travel.
Serving as a liaison between the Alumnae Association Board and the College, the AVP will provide strategic thinking and support for their work in support of the primary goals above.
Increase immediate use, budget relieving annual dollars via the Stephens Fund or other strategic initiatives utilizing existing volunteer structures or the creation of new structures, direct contact, email, social media, web pages, print publications, and phonathon. Align work across the department utilizing the team directly and indirectly in the work.
Assess and strategically develop a plan for alumnae/i engagement, supervising an Assistant Director to execute the plan including staffing the Alumnae Association Board, Alumni Clubs, Alumnae Presidents, etc. and signature events. Partner with Admissions to spearhead the introduction of alumnae involvement in the admissions process; partner with Center for Career and Professional Development to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumnae.
Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumnae, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally in support of the volunteer ecosystem supporting the growth of the Stephen’s Fund.
Supervise Director’s of Philanthropy, Director of Advancement Services and Assistant Directors to establish workflow via their roles in support of volunteer ecosystem and Stephens Fund.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree with at least 8+ years of development/fundraising experience in a college, university, other non-profit organization or a comparable field.
Experience with volunteer management, annual fund and engagement.
Should have excellent interpersonal skills, as well as superior writing and presentation skills.
Experience with fundraising information management systems/ databases preferred.
Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a high-performance team.
