The Shared Services Director of Communications and Engagement at the UVM Medical Center is a seasoned communications strategist, agile generalist and a proven leader who brings deep experience and a broad range of skills to the role. This individual is a working leader responsible for a collaborative, proactive and responsive local function that services the Medical Center in alignment with strategic priorities and advancing Shared Services goals.
This individual works to effectively integrate day-to-day operations with strategic planning and nimble prioritization to maximize impact and further the medical center’s organizational strategies and clinical, academic and research mission. The Shared Services Director of Communications and Engagement is responsible for local strategy executions and leads department services to support a range of communication needs including executive and organizational communication, public and media relations, engagement, social media, crisis communication, issues management and creative content generation.
The University of Vermont (UVM) Medical Center is a 562-bed academic medical center and level 1 trauma center located in Burlington, Vermont, serving a population of one million in Vermont and upstate New York, as well as supporting a number of specialty clinics throughout the region.

BA in journalism, public relations, communications, integrated communications and marketing, public/government relations or a related field.
Eight to ten years of progressive experience and proven leadership of internal and external communication and engagement strategies in a fast paced, high volume environment. Journalism, public relations or external relations experience a plus.
Proven track record of collaborative leadership, consultative partnership and relationship building. Direct supervision of teams of more than five people in a high volume, high stakes communication environment.
Expertise with omnichannel strategy and execution. Skilled in executive and employee communication, organizational voice and brand story. Adept at crafting and executing complex communication plans.
Creative thinker with storytelling expertise in words, visuals and multimedia.
Expertise in audience identification and message development.
Proven ability to build high impact, crossfunctional teams.
