This is a full-time staff position reporting to the Executive Director of Communications. In this role, the Communications and Media Relations Specialist develops and implements strategic plans to promote Cedars-Sinai's programs, patients and experts.
This individual successfully identifies, pitches and places newsworthy stories about Cedars-Sinai in major local and national media.
The individual responds to media inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner, writes and distributes news releases, and develops and manages strong ongoing relationships with reporters, producers, bloggers and other communicators.
The Communications Specialist collaborates regularly with programs and departments across Cedars-Sinai to execute communications projects, and works closely with leaders in clinical, operational, business and research areas to develop content for internal employee publications, videos, social media, the web and other channels.
As such, the work requires excellent writing and organizational skills and an ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
This individual must be able to serve as a trusted media relations and communications adviser to physicians, organizational leaders and others, and to maintain respectful, professional conduct when interacting with patients, staff and the media, complying with all Protected Health Information policies and procedures.
This individual represents the organization as a spokesperson when needed and must be available for on-call duties to provide media and crisis support during emergency situations.
