The Director, Direct Brand Initiative will work with IAB senior leadership to design and execute IAB’s new major initiative - Direct Brand Initiative (DBI) Strategic Partnership Program.
The Director, Direct Brand Initiative will be at the forefront of the direct brand commerce and interactive advertising industry. The role will provide early access to marketing making research as well as leaders, founders, and CEO of the best-known brands in the world. In addition, the Director, Direct Brand Initiative will be highly visible within the IAB and the industry at large. This role will be viewed as an industry thought-leader of an emerging discipline.
The role is responsible for working with brands and media companies across the interactive media and marketing industries and its extended ecosystem of brands, e-commerce, publishers, ad technology, martech companies, and agencies. This role will focus on revenue opportunities, sharing best practices, discussing issues that contribute to healthy growth for legacy and emerging disrupter brands as well as other member companies.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
Project management of IAB Direct Brand Initiative including setting committee objectives, balancing diverse interests and views, developing short and long-term project plans, keeping projects on track, and implementing communications and adoption strategies.
Development of market-making white papers, best-practices, and thought pieces that improve the workings of the programmatic and data digital advertising ecosystem.
Hosting IAB town halls, brand council, working group meetings and dinners ranging in size from 10-100 people.
Speaking at industry meetings, conferences, and events on the direct brand topics.
Working with/providing sales enablement to IAB sales team to secure new strategic partners to finance the program.
Experience and Skills Needed for Success:
Excellent project management skills, ideally thought leadership, research or strategy projects
8+ years experience as a brand manager, e-commerce company, management consultant or business development
Demonstrated capacity to convene and manage large groups from 10 to 50 people – ensuring all voices are heard while driving to consensus and action
General knowledge of e-commerce, media and advertising industries. Orientation toward business development/revenue generation
Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred Experience (not required):
Management consulting (or similar) experience
Experience at “direct to consumer” brand and/or experience with direct-to-consumer business challenges
Public speaking experience
