An exciting opportunity exists with the premier association centered on governance in higher education. The Association of Governing Boards of Universities & Colleges provides leadership and counsel to member boards, chief executives, organizational staff, policy makers, and other key industry leaders to help them navigate the changing education landscape. Our membership is comprised of 1300 boards representing 1900 colleges, universities and institutionally related foundations, serving 40,000 professionals in higher education.
The Vice President for the Membership Experience is charged with developing and implementing strategies that result in strong membership growth and robust retention rates.

Along with a passion for providing member value, high energy, and inspiring leadership skills, you'll need the following:
A minimum of 7-9 years of relevant and progressively responsible experience in a relevant membership capacity required, including work in membership marketing and sales; development and implement of recruitment and retention programs; and/or related functions. Knowledge of higher education sector is required.
At least five years of successful management experience.
Strong and demonstrably effective track record in development and implementation of marketing strategy in a non-profit membership environment.
Superb written and oral communication skills. Must be able to speak and write clearly and persuasively to varied audiences and also be able to present information in effective ways.
Excellent customer service ethic and responsiveness; experience in developing and maintaining successful internal and external collaborative partnerships.
Proven ability to frame, manage, and deliver projects, establishing and meeting long-term deadlines as well as short-term milestones on schedule.
Analytical capability to oversee quantitative membership and industry-related strategic management reporting, as well as the delivery of detailed, ongoing operational reporting, ensuring accuracy at all times.
Working knowledge of and experience with association and/or related membership growth and retention programs, processes, and data systems. Specific knowledge of and comfort with association management systems, preferably Impexium.
Track record of effective personnel/team management and mentoring. The vice president manages a five-member staff, in addition to special projects that may involve external consultants and advisors.
Ability to work collaboratively in formal teams and informal working groups, as well as independently.
Excellent organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks concurrently, often under tight deadline.
Proficiency in MS Office software.
Ability to travel, as needed.
