The Communications, Media Arts, and Theatre (CMAT) Program invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public Relations to begin August 2018. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient academic qualifications and professional experience in the field. This position will teach undergraduate courses in public relations, marketing for public relations, media studies, and integrated marketing. Additional instruction in public speaking and/or business or professional speech may also be required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a full load of courses, take an active role in the department by pursuing a program of research and scholarly activity, develop and update curricula, oversee senior thesis projects, assist student media organizations, prepare grants to secure departmental funding, and serve on departmental, college, and university committees.

Required Qualifications •PhD from an accredited university in public relations, communications, or journalism •Professional experience in public relations field, whether in an agency, corporate, non-profit, or similar capacity •College-level teaching experience •Demonstrated research agenda in public relations •Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse student population •Experience in writing instruction
Preferred Qualifications •Active professional involvement in NBPRS, PRSA, APR or other public relations professional organizations •Active involvement in a national academic organization •Record of juried research publications •Contacts with industry leaders and ability to expand university-industry partnerships •Evidence of experience with course development and grant writing •Recent professional experience
