Director of Sales and Membership wanted for the California Tow Truck Association (CTTA) Sacramento, CA - the largest state association of its kind in the world, created for the purpose of supporting like-minded industry leaders to relentlessly push our industry toward improving the experience and safety of the motoring public and our professional operators while mitigating impact on traffic congestion.
The time has come where we recognize the need for a dynamic Marketing/Sales personality to lead the CTTA into the future. The primary focus of the position will be spearheading a new and massive push toward growing the membership of the association while securing existing member retention. The current legislative climate in California also necessitates that fundraising for our Political Action Committee (PAC) Fund must become a immediate priority to ensure we have the resources for relentless threats on the future of our industry. Travel throughout the state will be required in order to deliver our message to our industry peers in person on a regular basis. Strong communication skills are critical as well as the ability to be on the road conducting business as well as within a traditional office. This growth will be accomplished by selling our beliefs in the professionalism of the industry, explaining our path of success and the challenges we face, and how joining together improves our outlook in successfully navigating these negative forces; along with the continued search and/or creation of more valuable member benefits by utilizing industry partners.
Attributes: Being a personable, outgoing, humorous and an effective listener are important in any sales position. These qualities will come in handy with our member's uncertain, stressful, and demanding environments. Public speaking and problem solving skills will be utilized consistently. Someone with high energy, time management and organization skills will be necessary to effectively support other platforms under the CTTA umbrella for growth as well. Understanding of the inner workings of running a business such as the financials, HR, and leadership are also important qualities. Specific knowledge of the towing industry is a bonus.
Duties & Responsibilities - are not limited to the following: - Work closely with, and accountable to the association's Executive Committee and President to obtain our objectives as set forth by our Board of Directors. Understand all aspects of marketing and work with our marketing team to move us to the next level internally as well as externally including press releases, public relations, website, event planning, conference participation, social media channels, training material, and internet sites such as our online marketplace. - Create and/or assist with presentations and other communication materials related to industry events and conduct presentations to our membership and other supporters of our association. - Research new products and services to offer to members while negotiating the best deals with manufacturers that will increase our value to our member. - Devise, present for approval, and implement strategies to drive business and sales toward our goals along with creating measures of success that communicate our current state and progress made using a platform such as a "dashboard". This includes completing and submitting accurate expense reports. - Plan and control budgets for all marketing efforts. - Evaluate emerging trends and provide input and perspective for adoption where appropriate. - Fundraise for various causes of the association including our PAC Fund and the overseeing of the required reporting that goes with it. Develop and oversee "phone tree" event for membership and PAC Fund raising events. - Manage and assist our existing staff in their day-to-day duties and obligations to our membership. - Seek out former members and find solutions to convince them to get back involved. Travel the state and create working relationships with industry leadership with the goal of communicating the current state of industry and clearly laying out the CTTA’s plan of attack. - Sell all CTTA platforms such as Education Program and collaborate with Emergency Road Service Coalition to bring about national awareness and develop new income streams for the CTTA through the national initiative at every opportunity. - Attend CTTA functions such as Chapter Events and Board Meetings. - Work the booth at our annual Trade Show and oversee its set up and tear down while managing volunteers. - Promote CTTA’s Brand through all available media outlets when opportunities arise. Be our spokesperson.
Additional Salary Information: Compensation and Benefits: Salary plus Commission; Base Salary between $50K & $70K; Commission: 25% on all membership and PAC Fund Revenues generated; Benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision, Vehicle & Travel Allowance, Sick and Vacation Pay
