PRCS is seeking an Assistant Park Planner to join our Facilities Planning & Development division. Reporting to the Chief Park Planner, top priorities for this position include assisting in department data collection for long and short range planning efforts, including County park master plans, demographic analysis, parks and recreation standards, and existing inventories; serving as technical support to the department with regards to assessing recreation needs, assisting with development of standards and planning related to facilities; preparing preliminary and final plans for parks and park facilities, trails, walkways, roads, athletic areas, play areas, and other related site work according to department standards; and assisting in preparation of detailed plans, specifications and cost estimates for development.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, urban planning, parks and recreation or related area with three years of related professional experience performing land use design and planning work, conducting quantitative land use and demographic analysis, working on project teams, and making public presentations
Experience using the following software applications and systems: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including current versions of ESRI ARCGIS (ArcMap); AutoCAD; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Site visits will be required on a regular basis. Collection of site data/ analysis requires evaluation of on-site field conditions, requires the ability to hike long distance on occasion in uneven terrain and undeveloped areas.
This position may work beyond the normal work-week and is subject to night and weekend hours to include meetings.
