MBA summer internship opportunities at GSK exist within Marketing, Market Research, and Strategy & Operations functions. During your internship, you will be aligned to several business units including the ones listed below based on your skill set and desire for specific opportunities. Policy, Payer, and Vaccine (PPV) Business Unit: The Policy and Payer teams at GSK are specifically designed around customer needs in policy, funding and delivery in the US Healthcare system. Specifically, they are responsible for a broad range of activities including: negotiating access and reimbursement with public/private payers, developing marketing strategy and brand messages for Payer customers, influencing state and federal policy, bringing payer needs to the Research and Development process, and setting payer an policy strategy for GSK. The US Vaccines Business at GSK offers a range of both pediatric and adult portfolios of products to prevent potentially life-threatening or crippling illnesses such as hepatitis A, hepatitis B, diphtheria, whooping cough, influenza, and more. Strategy, Planning, and Operations Business Unit: The Strategy, Planning, and Operations (SP&O) team is comprised of over 200 talented and varied individuals whose work is an integral part of nearly all aspects of the GSK US Pharmaceutical business. As an MBA summer intern, you’ll have the opportunity to become an integral part of one of SP&O’s six divisions: Commercial Capabilities, Commercial Operations, Customer and Business Insights, Digital Marketing and Media, Performance and Customer Solution Center, and The Transformation Office. This past summer, our MBA interns had responsibilities ranging from evaluating and conducting due diligence on a variety of new business development opportunities; investigating the potential for new rare disease and early-stage compounds; leading the assessment and analysis of unmet needs and opportunities in new healthcare areas outside of traditional pharmaceuticals; and measuring consumer promotional campaigns and valuing sales territories for our Vaccines division. In addition to your daily work and responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to pursue an area of interest to GSK that you will present to members of upper management at the end of your summer, and our MBA interns have had the opportunity to continue their association with SP&O after the internship end as a consultant on various projects and initiatives. MBA Summer Internship Overview: During your internship, you will work on projects critical to GSK business that will require you to show strategic insight, application of marketing skills, analytical ability and leadership capability. The roles are designed to give you perspective on the healthcare sector, the pharmaceutical business, the marketing function, as well as GSK and our senior management. During this time you will be provided with the appropriate level of support and training. You will also have the opportunity to make a final presentation to the Senior Leadership Team. Placements will run between May and August at the following sites – Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC and Philadelphia, PA. Although we try to match candidates to their preferred location, successful candidates may be offered placements at any of these locations, so any limitation of mobility should be included during the application process.
Applicants must meet all of the below requirements to be considered: • Must be eligible to work in the US at the time of, and for the duration of their employment. Employees will be required to furnish evidence of US work authorization. Applicant must not require future sponsorship for an employment visa status. • First-year MBA student enrolled at a US University. • MBA concentration or strong interest in at least one of the following: • Business to Business Marketing • Brand Management • Market Research • Quantitative methods, data analysis, statistical functions • Healthcare • Finance • 3.0+ cumulative GPA. • Ability to commit to a full-time schedule (35-40 hours/week) during the 12-week internship. • High level of proficiency of Microsoft Office programs. • Track record of achievement and leadership in work and/or extracurricular activities. • Desire for a career in the pharmaceutical industry
•5 years work experience prior to business school. • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
