Description: MedShare offers a tremendous opportunity for an experienced fundraising leader to serve as the visible presence for MedShare throughout the Northeast region. Building upon an existing base of major gifts, the entrepreneurial person in this position will have the ability to draw on the 17-year history and resources from MedShare’s national base of support and existing offices in metropolitan New York, Atlanta and San Francisco to build a significant program of support. The Regional Director for the Northeast Region is responsible for significantly expanding the Corporate and Individual donor base in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and surrounding states. She/he will serve as the external ambassador for MedShare by leading the Northeast Regional Council and the Northeast Young Professional volunteers. This is an opportunity to build a major gift program by identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of prospects in the Northeast market; to involve National MedShare staff in this process as directed by the Chief Development Officer; and to work with the National Development office to coordinate the submission of proposals, reports and correspondence in order to present MedShare’s case for support in a manner consistent with National Development Office standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Works autonomously to cultivate, solicit and steward individual, corporate and foundation donors, coordinating with the CEO, Chief Development Officer, Northeast Council and others
Identifies major gift prospects in the Northeast region and actively manages the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of these prospects within a finite period of time
Focuses on major gift fundraising by managing a portfolio of 150 prospects, including individuals, corporate and foundation donors with the potential to give $10K and up
Attends meetings of the Northeast Regional Council to provide MedShare updates
Involves Northeast volunteers in prospect meetings when appropriate
Assists National Development Manager in executing two signature events in the Northeast; the Share the Good Gala and the Young Professional’ Global Health Benefit event
Works with National Development Manager responsible for annual giving
Other duties and special projects as assigned
Experience in global health/global development fundraising
Existing relationships with high level corporate, foundation and individual contacts in New York City
7-10 years’ experience in Development, including experience in personally soliciting major gifts
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently is a must
Excellent written and oral presentation skills
Experience using Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
Willingness to meet new people and act as the public voice for MedShare
Strong organizational and prospect management skills. Ability to move donors to major gift levels
Experience using donor relationship databases for moves management metrics, entering call reports and actions
Experience living or traveling in the developing world and an international world view
Fluency in English is required and knowledge of Spanish and/or French is desired
