A founding member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Madison currently serves more than 5,000 youth, ages 6 to 18, at four sites throughout Brooklyn and the Bronx. We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Empowerment Director at our Columbus Clubhouse in Brooklyn, NY.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating departmental programs, activities and events and providing individual guidance and referrals as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit participants for all assigned programs and as directed
Plan and implement workshops utilizing prescribed evidence-based programs
Work effectively to prepare members to be leaders, upstanding citizens and community role models
Track and measure participants progress utilizing program forms, participant files and web-based system
Establish and maintain relationships with agencies and community-based programs in order to make the proper referrals for the intervention of drug and developmental problems of members
Guide program participants individually and in group settings to achieve personal adjustments in regards to social, school or family situations
Recommend the acquisition of necessary materials and resources within departmental budget
Submit all required reports timely to the Assistant Director
Initiate and maintain community contacts with families, schools and other organizations and institutions to enhance programs and services
Participate in organizational meetings and conferences
Ensure a healthy, safe environment in program areas
Bachelor’s Degree from state-accredited university/college and a minimum of 2 years in a related field required
CASAC or CASAC-T strongly preferred
Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 6-18 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner
Demonstrated ability to empower youth with effective programming and leadership training in small group settings
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
Proven track record of engaging youth in a responsible and mature manner
